The first Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 produced was the only one with headlights covered with plexiglass from the factory. Subsequently, some dealers offered this service as a dealer option.

The first prototype of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 "Daytona" was made at the end of 1967 in Carrozzeria Scaglietti (designed by Pininfarina) on the chassis oh the Ferrari 275 GTB/4 (Tipo 596). An experimental engine Ferrari Tipo 243 with three valves per cylinder, known as "Testa Piatta" has been installed on the car.
