We’re excited to announce that the first tri-axle battery-electric coaches, the GTe14 are set to make their UK debut in the first quarter of 2024 after we confirmed our alliance with the Yutong GTe14 high-floor model.

Tailored to UK specifications, the GTe14 holds a standard battery capacity of 422kWh, designed to offer an estimated range of 200 miles. There is an alternative option of a 563kWh configuration available, which is projected to extend the range to approximately 280 miles.

The forthcoming model will bear a striking resemblance to the existing diesel-powered GT12 two-axle coach, maintaining a cohesive external appearance.

Drawing upon the well-established success of Yutong’s current electric vehicle line up, the GTe14 incorporates the same reliable CATL battery packs. The integration of ZF axles will be seamlessly integrated, complemented by an actively steered tag unit. Further refinements in specifications are currently undergoing careful consideration before Pelican can formally confirm its order with Yutong in the upcoming period.

The model will come in at 13,970mm in length whilst also offering a maximum capacity of 61 seats. However, we anticipate most customers will opt for a slightly reduced seating arrangement of 57. Notably, the model will also offer a centre sunken toilet alongside compliance with PSVAR.

The first vehicle is to be built in September 2023. Yutong recently revealed its TC15E model, a 15m battery-electric coach sharing design elements with the GTe14. This is now being sold to customers in northern Europe.

The TC15E has a unique dashboard configuration that sets itself apart from the future GTe14 model. Additionally, Yutong’s rear-view camera system also comes with the prototype.
