Эмблема, символизирующая «союз четырёх», изначально принадлежала всему концерну Auto Union. Союз окончательно оформился в 1932 г., когда Audi присоединилась к компаниям DKW, Wanderer, Horch. У самой Audi была в то время другая эмблема - единица в красном перевёрнутом треугольнике, намекающая на первенство. В результате многочисленных перипетий, разрывов, слияний, перепродаж от «союза четырёх» остались четыре кольца и название Audi.

Считается, что само слово происходит от латинского глагола audio, что значит "слушать". Имя Августа Хорьха уже принадлежало одной фирме, и, создавая новый завод, он перевёл свою фамилию на латынь (нем. horchen – "прислушиваться").

Audi has unveiled the all-new V6 3.0 TDI Clean Diesel engine, which meets EURO 6 regulations. It is more powerful, more efficient and cleaner than ever. The engine is currently presented at the 35th International Vienna Motor Symposium.

The “TDI engines are a central part of our technology mix for the mobility of tomorrow. We have continued to perfect this technology over several decades and believe there is still potential for increasingy efficiency in the future too.”, commented Prof. Rupert Stadler, Chairman of the Board of Management of AUDI AG.

The engine comes with two variants with 218HP (160 kW) and 272HP (200 kW) and depending on that, it can reach up to 600 Nm (442 lb-ft).

The new V6 diesel is packed with numerous high-end features. The piston rings and pins have been optimized for minimal friction. The crankcase and the newly designed cylinder heads have separate coolant loops. The updated, innovative thermal management system improves efficiency even further. The turbocharger and the fully variable?load oil pump have also been updated. For the first time in automotive history, a NOx storage catalytic converter has been combined with a diesel particulate filter and SCR injection in a single assembly.
