Alexander Dennis and New Flyer, both interested in marketing a medium-duty bus in Canada and the United States, announced a joint venture to bring the Enviro200 to North America. A left-hand drive prototype adapted for North America was soon developed and built in the United Kingdom. While the first prototypes were built overseas, production has been moved to New Flyer's Minnesota facility.

Alexander Dennis Enviro200 Autonomous Bus Prototype (B43F) '03.2019 Produit en un seul exemplaire

The 11.5m ADL Enviro200 bus was fitted with the CAVstar® system provided by Fusion Processing Ltd, and was trialled by Stagecoach. The trial included the bus being used in autonomous mode within the depot environment, to carry out movements such as parking and moving into the bus wash.

The first public demonstration of the bus was held on 18th March 2019.
